Are Moissanites As Good As Diamonds?

Are moissanites as good as diamonds?

Gems hardness is measured on a Mohs Scale of Hardness, with 10 being the hardest to 1 being the softest. The moissanite sits at 9.25 on the Mohs scale. A diamond rates a 10 on the Mohs scale.

You may ask yourself which gem should I buy, Diamond or Moissanite?

- Both moissanite and diamonds make beautiful rings.
- Both of these gems are very durable to wear every day.  They don’t scratch or break easily.
- Both of them sparkle.  Moissanites usually have more of a rainbow sparkle, whereas diamonds emit a combination of colorless sparkle, rainbow sparkle, and flashes of light.

Each gem comes in a variety of cuts.  The round cut is the most popular because it offers the most sparkle and appears the most white.

Rings Diamond vs Moissanite

Moissanite is closest to a diamond in terms of durability and brilliance. Don’t think of a Moissanite as a “fake diamond”.  Moissanites are real Gemstones. They just look a lot like diamonds.

If you are on a budget and you want a diamond look Moissanite is a very good choice.
